Earth Force engages young people as active citizens who improve the environment and their communities now and in the future.
Through Earth Force young people get hands-on, real-world opportunities to practice civic skills, acquire and understand environmental knowledge, and develop the skills and motivation to become life-long leaders in addressing environmental issues.
Earth Force achieves these results by training and supporting educators as they implement our unique six-step model for engaging young people. Thanks to 10 years of rigorous evaluation, we know that our model positions young people to use their creativity and passion to play a meaningful role in environmental decision-making.

We're very excited about Twestival Denver, not just because it's a great time for a great cause, but also because of our live music! The popular Colorado band Places has made it their mission to rock out on March 24 while we cavort, eat, drink, make merry, and raise money for EarthForce. A few of us have had a listen already, and from what the fans say, we can assure you that you'll be in for a good time. Here's a quick description of the special flavor that Places will bring to Twestival Denver:
"PLACES brings a unique approach and a style that is all their own. Using a dual drum attack and blending several styles and genres effortlessly, each show is a solid listen from start to finish.
Honest lyrics and soulful delivery mixed with clever hooks and a guilty charm makes this band an easy one to get in to, and these Denver boys wouldn't have it any other way. This one will stay in your stereo and in your head..."
Be there or be square or something on March 24 at GreenSpaces Colorado. Full ticket details are here: TICKETS

We all love the chance to get together, meet new people, hear good music and do some off-line socializing with online friends however... the goal of Twestival is to do more than just have a good time. (Shocking, I know!) Twestival strives to raise money and awareness for a charity. In the past the charitable organization has been in support of a global cause yet this year each city that is hosting a Twestival has picked a local charity to support.
Recently, Denver-based non-profit Earth Force was one of six national recipients of a multi-year grant for new Youth Engagement Zones which will allow students to lead service-learning projects that solve challenges affecting their communities. America's Promise Alliance reports that through this program "middle and high school students in Northeast Denver will build their math and science skills by addressing their community's environmental challenges. With the help of community partners Youth Biz and Redline, the students will help build green learning labs at three local schools, teaching math and science curricula through the creation of urban gardens. Zone partners include the Colorado Academy of Science & the Arts, Whittier K-8 School, Manual High School, and the Community College of Denver."
So, on March 24 we will gather to do all the fun socializing we can handle and support this great new Denver initiative. Denver Twestival is put together by a group of volunteers that feel passionate about using social media for social good. 100% of the proceeds of Denver Twestival will go directly to Earth Force to support the Denver Youth Engagement Zone project. We are proud to be involved in this program!

If you haven't been involved in Twestival before you are probably wondering, what in the hell is Twestival? Here's the elevator speech...
Twestival® (or Twitter Festival) is a single day, global movement which uses the power of social media to organize offline events that mobilize communities in support of a local causes. Twestival is the largest global grassroots social media fundraising initiative to date, raising $1.2 million within 14 months for 137 nonprofits. All local events are organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of all ticket sales and donations go direct to projects.
So, in short, Twestival is an event where a cool group of local Twitter junkies meet up in person, have some fun and support a great charity while the rest of the world is doing the same thing. Funny name, great concept!
This year Twestival Denver will take place at 7pm on Thursday, March 24 at Green Spaces! If you haven't been there, Green Spaces is a sweet venue and we have a great band lined up (more info on that soon) to fill that space with some soulful sounds. So, mark you calendars and follow @TwestivalDenver on Twitter or join the community on our Facebook page for all the latest updates. See you then!
Oh, and don't forget to look for our tweets, retweet the info and please tell your friends! Thanks!
